The Sandbox

This one is not really about me, so much as Brad. I just had to post something that came up for him, because he was actually sooooo excited about it, he was just bubbling, talking fast to tell me... Cute.

He had to be in Two Dot, MT for the beginning of this week for work and he was thrilled. He loves working in the quarries, hates the office. Anyway, he came home Wed night going on about what a good week he had since he got to play around in our quarry over there in all of his adult-size Tonka Toys. He was just beaming since he got to alternate between driving the loader, the excavator and the dozer...all day long. He completely doesn't mind that the quarry starts work at 5 am and they put in 14+ hour days when they're there. As long as he has toys.... he's happy.

Apparently, one of our old customers in Canada, one that we used to sell stone to, had had this large, state.-of-the-art saw facility and they recently went out of business. The guy that bought this business came to town this last weekend to talk to Brad about running it or trying it or really showing him how to use his new machines. Or something like that, I am not sure I had the total 'gist' of the purpose of them wanting Brad's help, but he was sure excited to get to go play with their stuff.

So after a few days in Eastern MT, he rushed home (656 miles there and back) to grab his passport and hit the road for Calgary (600 miles round trip) to try out the toys in that saw shop. I saw him for all of about 3 hours and he was totally chatter-boxing about the heavy equipment and the sawing to come. He was like..."oh, and we can load the saws up at night set them to cut, leave and come back in the morning to find a whole slab...cool." I mean he shipped a whole semi-truck of boulders to himself in Canada to play with on the saws (that's 24 tons of materials). Anyway, I'm psyched for him enjoying these parts of his job so much. His mom always tells me that he never grew out of the sandbox, he just grew up and so did the toys....Boys
